The financial investors of this project are exclusively seeking a quick permit to clear-cut the land, sell the timber, build basic utilities, sell the lots, and pocket the profit.
This proposal does nothing to alleviate the affordable housing shortage here on the coast. These houses won’t be built for years and if they are ever built, would never meet an affordable price point.
It will will mean lower property values for the homes in the surrounding communities as a result of the risks it creates and the lifeless plot of land left behind.
There is legal exposure if the hazards created by this development damage the adjacent properties and/or future buildings on the property. Those exposures would be dramatically amplified if injuries were to occur given the warnings provided by this community.
Whatever small revenues that might be realized would never cover those possible legal exposures if any of those risks materialize.
The community would pay for any exposure in the form of higher taxes
